June 10, 2023
Two FirstEnergy employees from northeast Ohio, Patricia Mullin and Tonya Shelton, were recently honored by the YWCA of Greater Cleveland as Women of Professional Excellence. This award recognizes exceptional leaders for their accomplishments, community service, career success, mentoring and commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women.
Pat Mullin, acting president of Ohio Operations, has been with FirstEnergy since 1985 and has held leadership roles in operations, customer service, and financial management throughout her 30-plus-year career. “I am proud that I can be part of empowering women in achieving their goals,” said Pat. She has also been recognized for her contributions to community organizations and is actively involved in several employee business resource groups (EBRGs) that support diversity, equity and inclusion.
HR Representative Tonya Shelton joined the company in 2014 and has led our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts for the past four years. She is also involved in causes that uplift and mentor women and has served on the board of Junior Achievement of Summit County and the Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board of Summit County. Tonya is “deeply humbled by this recognition and continues to be inspired to support the YWCA’s mission of empowering women and eliminating racism.” Tonya is involved with several EBRGs, including MOSaic, Women in Leadership, Helping Women Grow, Thrive and Alternate Current.
