Volunteer Fun – Inside and Out
July 7, 2023
A few Fort Ashby Service Center employees participated in the Mineral County United Way Day of Caring. The employees volunteered at Frankfort High School, where they trimmed trees and cleaned up outdoors. They also built a batting cage for the softball team.
Ohio and Western Pennsylvania employees recently volunteered at the Friends in Tents (FiT) headquarters in Barberton, Ohio. At this facility, FiT staff and volunteers can cook, collect donations and be open and available to their friends in tents, as well as the local community to fulfill their needs. Inside, our employees cleaned and organized the food pantry and free community BookStore, assembled bagged lunches and toiletry kits, and organized clothing donations. Outside, FirstEnergy employees helped Harry Patterson, one of the FiT founders, clean up the landscaping around the facility by raking leaves, trimming bushes, planting flowers and mulching. This fun volunteer event was organized by FirstEnergy’s Women in Leadership Employee Business Resource Group’s (EBRG) Community Outreach Committee. FiT’s mission is to make the maximum positive effort for the community by sharing resources with lower income families and homeless communities.
