At its core, National Night Out is an annual campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. But over the years, it has grown to include other members of the community, including fire departments, emergency medical services and a host of other organizations that want to make our neighborhoods safer places to live.

FirstEnergy will be taking part in this year’s event, which is scheduled to be held in most areas on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Participating in National Night Out helps us to live our core value of Stewardship – positively impacting our customers, communities and other stakeholders.

“Eight of our 10 operating companies are planning to participate in this year’s National Night Out at various locations across our service territory,” said Candy Webb, manager, Public Safety. “We’re excited that so many of our employees will be helping to educate the public about electrical safety during the event – it’s a great opportunity to interact with our customers and other members of the community.”

Participating operating companies include Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company (CEI), Toledo Edison, Penelec, Met-Ed, Mon Power, Potomac Edison and JCP&L. To find a National Night Out event in your area, check out the sidebar below.
