FirstEnergy Employees Make a Positive Impact Through Volunteer Efforts
November 2, 2023
Over the past few months, FirstEnergy employees have been rolling up their sleeves and participating in various volunteer opportunities, making a positive impact in the lives of those in their communities. Let’s take a closer look at some of the recent volunteer efforts by FirstEnergy employees!
1. On August 28, Class Members of FE Connect volunteered at the local Akron Canton Regional Foodbank. The group served their local community together, counting and packaging laundry soap for families to have clean clothes, as well as weighing and bagging pasta for foodbanks to distribute. According to the foodbank, they were able to help provide 450 meals for their neighbors in need.
2. This past October, Akron-area employees from the Innovation & Digital Factory volunteered to lend a helping hand to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The team dived into various tasks and responsibilities across the facility, including inspecting and packaging carrots, preparing cardboard for recycling, and sorting pallets of donated food and materials. The team’s dedicated efforts and hard work helped the foodbank provide a total of 9,167 meals to our neighbors in need.
3. Mark Robinson, helicopter captain, Utility Flight Operations, used his FirstEnergy VTO perk by volunteering with his whole family to deliver Meals on Wheels with Berks Encore. This is the second year in a row the Robinson family has been involved with Meals on Wheels. On average there are 75 meals that are delivered each week on one route alone. Mark says the total for the Met-Ed area is over 600 meals a week.
4. Nathan Denard, assistant business analyst, volunteered with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania and had the privilege of helping local children obtain school supplies. Nathan, who volunteered last year as well, assisted in packing 1,000 learning kits that contained multiple items. He says it was very rewarding to help the less fortunate and promote learning along the way.
