On December 14, the Corporate Affairs & Community Involvement (CACI) team put their mission to work by coming together for some year-end bonding through service. Composed of employees from Akron, Cleveland, Hartville, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, all 10 members of the CACI team volunteered for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

During the last pop-up foodbank for the year, the team sponsored the Pop-Up Pantry on the University of Akron’s campus with a $2,500 donation.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank opened Pop-Up Pantries throughout Summit County in response to the pandemic. These pantries are critical connection points for community members to receive needed groceries where they are, close to home. As volunteers, the CACI team was assigned to distribute food options directly to participants, recycle boxes, assist with check-in, replenish items from the truck and bring smiles to participants.

Over a two-hour period, the Corporate Affairs & Community Involvement team served 142 people/families. The team found this experience to be fulfilling and rewarding. The service not only helped those in need in the community, but it also strengthened the bond within the team. The CACI team looks forward to continuing their support for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and other community organizations in the future.
