FirstEnergy’s Outage Map Plays Key Role During Historic Storm

FirstEnergy’s updated outage map tools were put to the test during the historic Aug. 6 storms – and passed with flying colors. The map even popped up during local media storm coverage to help illustrate how serious the damage was, and just how much work our crews faced as they got everyone back online.

“Much work has been done to improve the navigation and functionality of our customer outage portal,” said Justin Good, Manager, Pennsylvania Revenue Operations, and the Outage Journey Initiative Owner. “The map enhancements were a year in the making and led by the ADMS Reporting and Analytics team, whose hard work paid off.”

80% of customers reporting an outage did so via web, text and through our interactive voice response (IVR) system during the Aug. 6 storms. 30% of those reports were via web which means the outage portal did its job.
