December 3, 2024
The mission of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is to fight hunger, improve lives and strengthen communities. As part of this mission, the organization provides services that enhance the lives of veterans and their families through the MilitaryShare Program.
To assist with this initiative, the FirstEnergy Foundation recently presented a $25,000 check to the food bank to support MilitaryShare distribution sites in York, Adams, Franklin and Blair counties. Pennsylvania President John Hawkins and Regional External Affairs Consultant Kevin Eck traveled to the organization’s headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., to deliver the contribution.
“I enjoyed celebrating Veterans Day by presenting a donation from the FirstEnergy Foundation to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in support of their MilitaryShare program, which helps provide food and care for veterans and their families,” said John. “Thank you to all who have served.”
MilitaryShare distributions take place on-site at armories, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Posts and American Veteran (AMVET) locations throughout the food bank’s 27-county service area. There are currently 28 distribution sites in central Pennsylvania serving more than 45,000 individuals through the program.
