Today, FirstEnergy announced that President and CEO Brian Tierney has been unanimously elected by the Board of Directors to the additional role of Chair of the Board. In the combined role of CEO and Chair, Brian will continue to work with our dedicated team to shape FirstEnergy’s future as a premier electric company. Brian and the Board remain focused on investing in our electric system and employees to create value for our shareholders and improve reliability to enhance the well-being of our customers, communities and employees.

Brian succeeds John W. Somerhalder II, who will remain a director on the Board. Lisa Winston Hicks will remain the Board’s Lead Independent Director.

Brian’s appointment to the position of Chair of the Board reflects the Board’s conviction that FirstEnergy will continue to advance its strategy under his leadership, including the execution of our Energize365 capital investment program.
