Cheerful Givers

Each year, FirstEnergy employees go above and beyond with their charitable holiday activities. Here are a few examples from Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) and Mon Power.
JCP&L
The FirstEnergy Foundation made a $1,000 donation to Holiday Express, Inc. (HEI) in Monmouth County.
Kathy Moyer, Customer Account specialist, Holmdel, and HEI volunteer, played Elmo for one of the agency’s holiday events. HEI delivers the gifts of music, food, presents and human kindness to more than 100 special needs organizations during the holiday season.
Rob Rizzolo, Customer Service representative, Holmdel, used his Volunteer Time Off (VTO) for a toy drive sponsored by the Island Heights Volunteer First Aid Squad and Island Heights Police Department. The event benefitted families in Ocean and Monmouth counties who could not afford gifts. More than $600 worth of new toys was collected.

The FirstEnergy Foundation helped sponsor the 2019 Trees for Troops program. Since 2005, the program has provided nearly 209,000 Christmas trees to military personnel at more than 65 bases in the U.S. and overseas. As part of our sponsorship, we provided national branding for the program and created and donated specialty Christmas ornaments. Additionally, our employees volunteered at local Trees for Troops events held on the Naval Weapons Earle Base in Colts Neck, N.J., and at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station (Air Force/Navy/Marines) in Vienna, Ohio.
Mon Power
Employees at Mon Power Headquarters and White Hall Service Center adopted 50 angels (families/children in need) for the Fairmont Salvation Army Angel Tree.
