JCP&L Recognized as a Champion of Good Works
April 5, 2018
The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) hosted a Companies That Care reception on March 20, paying tribute to the kindness and generosity of the business community. Jersey Central Power & Light was among 39 companies honored as a Champion of Good Works at the gala reception, in Belleview, N.J.
CIANJ, a statewide business and advocacy organization, believes that caring, compassion, generosity and teamwork are a driving force for good, shared by New Jersey companies that embrace giving back to the communities they serve. The award recognizes businesses with a focus on helping the hungry, the homeless, veterans, children and the elderly, and protecting the environment through sustainability projects and programs. The CIANJ judges said, “JCP&L’s Harvest for Hunger campaigns have raised more than $104,000 for local food banks and pantries; along with the FirstEnergy Foundation, employees have contributed more than $640,000 to support local United Way campaigns; and with the New Jersey Audubon Society and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, JCP&L helped create new habitats for bees, butterflies and birds.”
JCP&L President Jim Fakult said, “We work year-round to be good corporate citizens. I’m pleased our employees and the FirstEnergy Foundation were recognized for showing generosity and compassion to others and for helping the environment.”
Anthony Russo, president of CIANJ said, “For most companies honored, generosity and kindness are part of their culture. The public is often unaware of the magnitude and scope of these good works, so this reception is our way of shining a spotlight on companies that care.”
Congratulations to JCP&L for being in the spotlight.
