Celebrating Safety Milestones

Employees at the following operating companies were honored for their safety commitment.

The Illuminating Company (CEI)

  • Solon – Twenty-one employees in the Lines group surpassed seven years without an OSHA recordable.

Bargaining-unit employees at CEI are represented by Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 270.

Ohio Edison

  • North Street – Meter Reading has gone 14 years without a controllable motor vehicle accident (CMVA). Twenty-two employees work in the group. Bargaining-unit members are represented by UWUA Local 126.
  • Alliance – Four employees in the Lines group achieved three years without an OSHA recordable. Union members are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1194.
  • Sandusky – Members of the Lines group have driven two years without a CMVA. There are 50 employees working out of the shop. IBEW Local 1194 represents bargaining-unit members.

Mon Power

  • Weston-Buckhannon – The service center celebrated two years without an OSHA recordable on June 18. Thirty-four employees work out of the facility. Union members belong to IBEW Local 2357.

Penelec

  • Somerset – Twenty employees in the group celebrated 20 years without an OSHA recordable on July 5.
  • Johnstown – The district achieved five years of OSHA-free work on July 12. There are 121 employees in the group.

Bargaining-unit employees at Somerset and Johnstown are represented by IBEW Local 459.

West Penn Power

  • McConnellsburg – The service center celebrated three years of OSHA-free work on June 16. There are 17 employees based at the facility.

UWUA Local 102 represents bargaining-unit employees at West Penn Power.
