In 2021 the FirstEnergy Foundation sponsored the Values in Action^® (VIA) Kindland initiative, which aims to make kindness a unifying value in America. Kindland is part of VIA’s national Just Be Kind campaign. VIA empowers students and adults to build communities of kindness, caring and respect through programs that teach, promote and provide skills and tools to enable individuals to make positive, values-based decisions every day.

Our sponsorship of Values in Action continues – and would like you to spread kindness companywide.

“The FirstEnergy Foundation is proud to continue our sponsorship of Values in Action and encourage all employees to participate in Just Be Kind again this year,” said Lorna Wisham, vice president, Corporate Affairs and Community Involvement, and president of the FirstEnergy Foundation. “Considering the rise of hate crimes in our communities and bullying in our schools and workplace, we need kindness now more than ever. We’re hoping more FirstEnergy employees will embrace Just Be Kind companywide.”

If you want to join in on this fun and uplifting effort, use social media to report your random acts of kindness and/or kindnesses you’ve experienced from others. Highlight your children, friends and family and the random acts of kindness you do together. Be sure to pass this on to your local school district. Many schools in our footprint, including Akron Public Schools, are already participating.
