We Made Spirits Brighter

January 27, 2023

Our employees volunteered for a number of holiday fundraising events and activities throughout our service area. Through their generous giving of time, many people in need were able to have a joyous holiday season. Here are a few examples!

Andrea Bortoluzzi, consultant, Community Involvement, presented a $5,000 check to Tristan Tappe, a Pennsylvania State Police trooper, for the Shop with a Cop Program. Through this program, Westmoreland County (West Penn Power) children who were victims of crime or unfortunate events can shop with a trooper for gifts for themselves and family. Our check provided a brighter Christmas for more than 30 children.

Jimmy Brissey, line leader, coordinated a collection of toys at Ohio Edison’s Kent Line Shop in support of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The program collects new, unwrapped toys at the Goodyear blimp hanger in Suffield Township. The toys are distributed as Christmas gifts to children in need in the greater Akron area. Jimmy collected $1,250 to buy toys for the event.

L.-r.: Jimmy’s son, Tyson; Jimmy; and Jimmy’s wife, Angela. Jimmy and Angela have participated for 15 years.

Our Towanda LOC (Penelec) employees participated in the local Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. Dan Dieffenbach, manager, Operations, arranged for employees to select Angel Tree tags to provide gifts for area children. Dan has volunteered for the program for numerous years and additionally assists with distributing the gifts to the recipients. Our employees provided for 20 families.
