Advertising Campaigns Win ADDYs
March 24, 2023
FirstEnergy was presented with five ADDY® Awards at the 2023 Cleveland American Advertising Awards held on March 9.
Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Across the country, local entrants vie to win ADDY Awards each year – recognition as the very best advertisers in their markets.
FirstEnergy’s Light the Way campaign won both a Silver and Gold ADDY® Award in the following categories:
- Film, Video & Sound | Television Advertising | Television Advertising – Regional/National | Single Spot – Up to 2:00
- Gold ADDY® Award – Light the Way “Tony”
- Cross Platform | Integrated Campaigns | Consumer Campaign-Regional/National
- Silver ADDY® Award – Light the Way Campaign
Light the Way is our reputation-building campaign that showcased employees who are making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work. The campaign appeared across our service area and featured stories of FirstEnergy employees who are living our values.
Our Drone Safety Zone Racing Game won three Gold ADDY® Awards in the following categories:
- Online/Interactive | Apps, Games, Virtual Reality | Mobile App
- Online/Interactive | Apps, Games, Virtual Reality | Games
- Online/Interactive | Apps, Games, Virtual Reality | Website Based App
FirstEnergy’s Drone Safety Zone is part of a larger, integrated Drone Safety campaign. The online racing game was promoted via digital and social media and invited tweens and teens to virtually test their flying skills. The electrifying racing experience lets kids design their drone and race against other pilots, all while reinforcing important safety messages about drones and power lines.
The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local advertising club competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.
Following the first tier awards ceremony, local American Advertising Award winners advance to the second tier and compete against winners in one of 15 district competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards.
