An Early Harvest Reaps Rewards

Employees participating in the Long Branch tournament.

June 2, 2023

Our JCP&L employees made sure they did their part to support the 2023 Harvest for Hunger campaign by starting late last year.

Back in November, Joe Hildebrandt, manager, Operations, along with Maani Ibraham, planner scheduler III, organized a JCP&L Central New Jersey (CNJ) Harvest for Hunger Cornhole Tournament. They planned it through conference calls with all the CNJ Operations directors and managers – including line shops, substation, underground and meter services/meter reading employees.

Each shop set up its own cornhole tournament resulting in a winner from each location. And each shop chose a food pantry or local 501(c)(3) organization to receive their donations.

Some of the organizations that benefited from their donations included: St. Gregory’s Food Pantry, Bradley Beach Food Pantry, Richard Grande Scholarship Fund (in honor of a  JCP&L line worker who died in 2012 while on the job), Fulfill Foodbank, Lunch Break Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen and Hope for Children.

From the various JCP&L locations, they raised a total $7,910 which will go towards the grand total for JCP&L’s Harvest for Hunger 2023 campaign.
