Bill Harker Retiring

Executive Director, CT/Hydro Bill Harker has elected to retire, effective March 1, 2018, after 39 years with the company.

“Bill is a key member of the FirstEnergy Generation leadership team, having worked at power plants and in support functions his entire career,” said Vice President, FirstEnergy Fleet Operations, Dan Rossero. “In his current role, Bill has helped manage a very difficult transition as we have sold the majority of our combustion turbine (CT) and hydro plants. Bill handled this with professionalism and compassion for our employees. I appreciate his dedication, hard work and expertise over the years.”

Bill began his career in 1979 as a technician at the Bruce Mansfield Plant. He held a variety of supervisory and management positions at the New Castle Power Plant from 1983 until 1998. He served as director of Production at the Sammis Plant from 1998 until 2003, when he was named manager, Technical Services, for CT/Hydro Operations. He was promoted to director of the group in 2005, and executive director in 2011. He became executive director of North Fleet and CT/Hydro Operations in 2013 and was named to his current position in 2017.

A reception in his honor will be held on Feb. 5 from 1:00 – 3:00 in room B127 at the West Akron Campus.
