Employee volunteers in our Ohio Edison and Mon Power service areas recently supported environmental initiatives.

Eleven employees from Construction and Design Services recently used volunteer time off at Beech Creek Nature Preserve in Alliance. The group installed drainage around a pavilion, replaced a walking bridge entrance ramp and moved lumber.

Our Mon Power employees teamed up with East Fairmont High School students for the NexTrex challenge. Over the last six months, the volunteers collected 533 pounds of plastic materials, which is equal to more than 40,000 bags, earning them the third-place spot out of 780 schools. The collected plastic materials are sent to a NexTrex processing facility, where they are transformed into composite decking materials that provide a durable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional building materials.
