Celebrating Pride and Heritage

August 31, 2023

FirstEnergy employees in our West Penn Power and Mon Power service areas, and the FirstEnergy Foundation, are supporting a number of important initiatives in our communities.

A few employees participated in the Pride Festival in State College, Pennsylvania. The Pride Festival is hosted by the nonprofit, Centre LGBTQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer) Support Network, whose mission is to bring the community together through LGBTQ+ education, advocacy and activities in the Centre region.

At the Pride Festival are, l.-r.: Chrissy Moyer, business analyst, Compliance & Industry Engagement; Cat Cook, executive director, Centre LGBTQA Support Network; and Joleen Hindman, consultant, Regional External Affairs.

The FirstEnergy Foundation donated $10,000 to the West Virginia Black Heritage Festival in Clarksburg, West Virginia in our Mon Power service area. The festival holds its annual event in September with the goal of exposing the Black/African American youth of the community to many positive life options. The organization also supports the Kelly Miller Community Center with access to exercise equipment, dance classes, club activities, library, food pantry and computer lab.

At the check presentation are James Connor, consultant, Regional External Affairs (r.) and Jim Griffin, director, West Virginia Black Heritage Festival.
