A group of employees in our Toledo Edison service area participated in the Junior Achievement of Northwest Ohio’s Inspire Expo career fair at the Glass City Convention Center. The event brought together schools and businesses to help launch middle school students into their future high school, college and career paths. Our team provided information about careers in the electric utility industry. Also, our safety trailer offered live demonstrations throughout the day on the importance of electrical safety. More than 1,500 students attended.
Penelec participated in a touch-a-truck event at the Towanda Elementary School. Line workers Travis White and Chris O’Conner shared with the students their job responsibilities and information about the electric utility industry. More than 220 students attended.Fourteen FirstEnergy Akron-area employees volunteered at the 2022 Ohio & Erie Canalway Fishing Derby. This afterschool program provides second through fourth graders in Akron Public Schools and their families with the opportunity to fish along the historic Ohio & Erie Canalway on the Towpath Trail while learning about the canal and conservation.
Southeast PA Women In Leadership and Helping Women Grow-Reading Employee Business Resource Groups supported teams participating in the spring event for Berks Girls on the Run in our Met-Ed service area. Our employees helped with carnival-like games, and of course, cheered on the racers.
