June 30, 2024
Record-high temperatures and storms throughout the Midwest last week meant FirstEnergy employees were working hard to ensure reliable, safe electric service for our customers – and they stepped up to the challenge.
FirstEnergy President and CEO Brian Tierney praised employees’ readiness, preparation and efforts to keep electric service consistent and quickly restored for those affected by intense heat and storms during a recent interview with CNBC’s Money Movers.
Brian also shared his thoughts on the current state of the electric grid, given increased demand for power due to heat and industrial factors, including growing need for PJM load capacity as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers are expected to expand exponentially, potentially taxing the grid.
