On March 12, 14 representatives from the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO) visited Perry to learn more about nuclear power, its role in the energy industry and how it impacts the state’s economy.

CCAO’s mission is to advance effective county government for Ohio through legislative advocacy, education, training and greater citizen awareness and understanding of county government.

David Hamilton, Perry site vice president, kicked off the meeting and gave the group an overview of nuclear power. Led by NAYGN members Larry Francis, Michael Maier, Nikolas Shay and Varun Shukla, the visitors toured the control room, the FLEX storage bay, emergency diesel generators and the dry cask storage area.

Timothy Lennon, Geauga County commissioner, and Lake County commissioners Daniel Troy and John Hamercheck listen to Chris Elliott, manager, Perry Operations, explain how the Control Room operates.
