Here are a few examples of our commitment to learning and educational opportunities in our communities.
Jim Painter, director, Operations, and Cara Trail, senior administrative assistant, represented Potomac Edison at a career fair sponsored by Washington County Public Schools. The event was held at Hagerstown Community College. Jim and Cara discussed the Power Systems Institute program and open positions for controls technicians, meter readers, engineers and distribution technicians to prospective candidates.
Chuck Evanhoff, consultant, Regional External Affairs, presented a $5,000 Investing with Purpose check to the Northwest Pennsylvania National Tooling and Manufacturing Association (NWPA-NTMA) during a recent board meeting. The funds will be used to support various student projects and programs such as scholarships, a RoboBots program and a pre-engineering career camp.
FirstEnergy provided a $7,500 sponsorship for the Achieving Dreams Scholarship Gala held by Project GRAD (Graduation Really Achieves Dreams) Akron. In collaboration with community partners, Project GRAD Akron provides a system of programs, support and scholarships for underrepresented students to achieve success from kindergarten through career.
