A group of FirstEnergy employees has established a new way to embrace and celebrate Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI).

 A new Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG) called Illuminate aims to celebrate and examine the faith and spiritual worldview traditions of our workforce. The group’s purpose is to promote an environment of inclusion and respect while navigating the challenges of differing belief systems and traditions.

While the mission may seem straightforward, John Huber, Executive Sponsor, says the group had a lot of questions they had to ask themselves to make sure the group could be inclusive.

Another important element Michael Armour II, Chair of Illuminate, says they had to consider is psychological safety.

The group hopes that through these interactions, employees can gain a deeper insight and appreciation into diversity of religion or spiritual beliefs while creating a more inclusive workplace. Illuminate hopes to host their first meeting this month.
