Fun Fellowship and Fundraiser Events

July 9, 2019

Our employees love going out into their communities and volunteering for a great cause. Here are a few fun examples.

A team of Mon Power employees recently participated in the Greater Morgantown Heart Walk. Raising funds to help fight heart disease and stroke, the annual walk began at the West Virginia University Coliseum and ended with several laps around the campus track. Team leaders were Libby Durr, Regional External Affairs consultant, and Lashelle Lee, Fort Martin Power Station nurse. The Mon Power team included 27 FirstEnergy employees and family members.

The FirstEnergy Foundation got the motors running with a $500 donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Ride for Life event. Our employees and others from Latrobe H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) surpassed their goal raising more than $135,000. The event brought in $1.7 million nationwide for MDA. In the photo are (l.-r.): Dirk Newhouse, Transmission Project manager; Jimmy McMahan, Z&M Cycles owner; Melanie Mancuso, staff business analyst; and Rob Yost, Transmission Project manager. Not in photo: Kerrie Pelliccione, executive assistant; and Joyce Sukay, business technician I.

Jolynn Henninger, senior business analyst (Reading), vice chaired the 2019 Girl Scouts of Eastern PA’s Take the Lead event in Bethlehem, Pa. Take the Lead is the signature fundraiser honoring the community’s most distinguished women in professional and leadership roles. The event raised $258,000 – with an additional $80,000 in “camperships” to help girls in need attend summer camp. In the photo with Jolynn are her two scout daughters: Addison and Jordan. FirstEnergy Foundation provided a sponsorship for the event.

More than 30 Toledo Edison employees, friends and family members participated in the Toledo American Heart Association’s Heart Walk on May 18. The company was recognized as a top contributor for the event.
