Game of Life: Employee Volunteers Help Students Learn About Finances

Anne Lazzerini and Misty Terry work a life simulation table, helping students learn real life scenarios.

Our employees recently supported Akron Public School high school seniors at the Garfield Financial Reality Day. The event introduced students to financial education, every day financial decisions, budgeting and banking concepts.
Like the board game called Life, students walk through an interactive life and finances simulation where they are assigned a job, family, occupation, salary and credit score. Using their life scenario, the students visit 10 life simulation tables with their budget sheets to pay for their monthly living expenses.
“This is a wonderful and educational event for the students and volunteers. The scenarios teach students how unexpected expenses or windfalls can change monthly incomes. It’s a great learning opportunity for the students,” said Anne Lazzerini, Analyst II, Customer Policy & Solutions.
