Employee volunteers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey recently supported much-needed programs, services and safety initiatives.
The Centre County United Way hosted an “Over the Edge” fundraiser where participants rappelled down one of the most iconic landmarks at Penn State University, Beaver Stadium, home to Nittany Lion football. Dan Lowenstein, Forestry specialist, was in good company rappelling with local celebrities including the Penn State Nittany Lion mascot and the oldest rappeler who is 103 years young. Proceeds from Over the Edge will be used to support health, education and financial stability programs for individuals and families in Centre County. Dan raised more than $1,500 from coworkers, family and friends and he was able to utilize his Volunteer Time Off to participate.
Our Newton District conducted a Live Wire Safety Demonstration at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. The primary focus was on first responder and municipal employee education. More than 122 first responders, including police and fire departments, as well as municipal employees, attended the demonstration.
