Helping Out in More Ways Than One

June 9, 2023

Met-Ed and Mon Power area employees – along with the FirstEnergy Foundation – provided much-needed support to local nonprofits.

A number of Reading-area employees volunteered at the IM ABLE Foundation in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Our group cleaned out four storage spaces and installed storage hooks for holding adaptive bikes. Volunteers included members of Veterans and Allies EBRG and employees representing Operations (Line, Substation, Design, Work Management) and Lebanon, Hamburg, Boyertown and Reading line shops. The mission of the IM ABLE Foundation is to remove obstacles that keep people with physical challenges on the sidelines, providing them access to programs and equipment tailored to their needs and a community of all abilities to support them.

The Disability Action Center (DAC) in Fairmont, West Virginia, received a $2,500 FirstEnergy Foundation check. The DAC has been providing services and programs to individuals with disabilities and their families since 1958.

At the check presentation, l.-r.: Marina Maddow, DAC client; Krissy Michael, consultant, Regional External Affairs; William Roger, DAC client; and Julie Sole, DAC.

On Arbor Day the Mon Power Green Team donated 150 Colorado Blue Spruce trees for a giveaway at the West Virginia Botanic Garden.

Jessica Shaffer, advanced scientist, Environmental (l.) and Krissy (r.) dropped off the donated trees.
