Keeping Education Real

November 2, 2022

Learning isn’t just reading, writing, mathematics and science – it can incorporate many topics and benefit many individuals. Here are a few ways FirstEnergy employees and the FirstEnergy Foundation are supporting learning opportunities.

The Northern Tier Industry & Education Consortium (NTIEC) in Penelec’s service territory  received a $15,000 FirstEnergy Investing with Purpose grant. NTIEC’s mission is to create a highly skilled workforce in northern Pennsylvania through the integration of school employment and training processes.

Holding the check are Jason Krise, consultant, Regional External Affairs (r.), and Shealynn Shave, NTIEC executive director. They are joined by NTIEC students.

A group of Toledo Edison employees volunteered to make sure students at Longfellow Elementary School started off the year right. The group delivered boxes of crayons, glue, backpacks and more.

We recently donated 10 laptops to Homeless Solutions in JCP&L’s Morristown area. Elaine Vincent, advisor, Community Involvement, was instrumental in coordinating this effort. Bob Flynn, consultant, Regional External Affairs, delivered the computers.
