Passengers aboard the Foundation’s train trip in Phillipsburg, N.J.

The FirstEnergy Foundation sponsored train trips on The Polar Express for youngsters in Akron (Ohio), Phillipsburg (N.J.) and Elkins (W.Va.) during the recent holiday season. The Foundation supported three Polar Express experiences in the Akron area, including a trip for third graders in the city’s public schools in partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation.

The magical train rides to the North Pole included a reading of The Polar Express children’s book, hot chocolate, cookies and a visit from Santa Claus. “We were pleased to support these special holiday outings for so many area children who might otherwise never be able to experience The Polar Express,” says Dee Lowery, vice president, Corporate Affairs and Community Involvement, and president, FirstEnergy Foundation.
