Providing Community Support Where Needed
March 31, 2023
FirstEnergy employees know the value of keeping the communities we serve strong. As a result, you’ll find our employees volunteering for events and initiatives throughout our service area. Here are a few examples.
The FirstEnergy Foundation donated $5,000 to sponsor Government Day at the state capitol in Harrisburg, Pa. The event was for the Leadership Centre County 2023 class. Sharon Roth-Fulton, senior advisor, Pennsylvania Government Affairs and FE lobbyist, and Gwenn Dando, chief of staff for Pennsylvania State Senator and Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee Wayne Langerholc, discussed how lobbyists and legislators’ staff work together to understand the potential negative impacts and unintended consequences of a bill and try to find mutually agreeable solutions. The class also met with local senators and representatives and toured the capitol building.
Toledo Edison employees volunteered at Pathways Inc. Brothers United. Our team constructed shelves, assembled highchairs, folded baby clothes and organized the facility’s new father friendly baby room. The goal of Brothers United is to assist young men in being involved fathers, which helps the wellness of the child. Also, a number of employees donated more than 100 packs of wipes and 900 diapers for the baby room.
