Providing Essential Assistance
October 11, 2022
Many people are struggling with not only putting food on the table, but also finding shelter for them and their families. Here are a few examples of FirstEnergy employees helping the most vulnerable residents in our communities.
Members of our Veterans and Allies Employee Business Resource Group volunteered at Laura’s Home Crisis Center (part of the City Mission) in The Illuminating Company’s service territory. The group painted rooms at the facility. For more than a century, the City Mission has provided basic needs and critical recovery services to those facing homelessness.
Toledo Edison volunteers raised $1,600 for the Aurora Project by working a concession stand at a Brooks & Dunn concert. The Aurora Project provides support services for homeless women and their children.
The Serving Area Military (SAM), a veterans organization, received a $5,620 FirstEnergy contribution check. SAM, located in Ohio Edison’s Massillon service area was founded in 2015 to assist local heroes and their families. It’s a community of veterans and military supporters working with other agencies to ensure service members, veterans and their widows receive the help they need.
