Supporting Our Youth

March 3, 2022

Our employees’ volunteerism and the FirstEnergy Foundation’s generosity are benefitting two organizations in our West Penn Power service area

The Institute in Waynesboro received a $5,000 FirstEnergy Foundation check in support of its watershed science education activities. The funds will supply the Institute’s Waterstriders (the middle- and high-school student stream study group); high school and university interns; and intermediate grade-school students with vital supplies and equipment as they engage in watershed science studies.

L.-r.: Jay Healy, manager, Operations; Dave Graff, the Institute; and Will Laing, Shippensburg University intern. A senior, Will is working on a bachelor’s degree in Earth science, with a focus on sustainability.

Joleen Hindman, consultant, Regional External Affairs (r.), virtually presented a $5,000 FirstEnergy Foundation check to Pamela Salokangas, director, Centre Region Parks & Recreation Authority. The donation will help fund the all-abilities playground at Whitehall Road Park in State College.
