When Neighbors Ask: Customer Passwords

What do you say when a friend, family member or neighbor asks a question about a specific topic pertaining to FirstEnergy? Here is some information you may want to share if you’re asked about why customers are being required to change the password for their online account.
As part of FirstEnergy’s commitment to protecting the personal information of our customers, we recently upgraded the login process on our website to provide additional account security. This March 7 change was part of a system upgrade and not in response to any security incident or threat.
The update requires customers to create a new password when they log into their account, even if they recently changed it. The option to set up multifactor authentication (MFA) to add another layer of security is also available.
